After more than a decade of scaling the upper echelons of the South African entertainment industry –the multi-talented Bobo Seretsane – or simply BO to those in the know – is about to take his music career stratospheric!
The vehicle to get the Denim lead singer there is his stellar debut solo single “Rise together people ”.“It’s up-beat and feel-good and showcases one of the many sides of my personality,” The Chart Topping Single is currently enjoying massive airplay and Has Been A number One on many Radio Stations. BO’s journey will see him putting the finishing touches to the album which is sure to include many more intriguing surprises, even an international collaboration or two, perhaps ? With Denim’s last album and Number One single “Crazy Love” charting on at least 10 radio stations and being play listed on virtually every radio station across the South Africa, the chart-topping single [written by Bo] is indicative that it is his time to shine – “I’ve been working towards this for over two years,”, the writer and performer recalls. “I wanted to have something to say lyrically. Something that inspires people and that ultimately gives us all hope.”
“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be making music,” BO says. “It’s always been the one true leveler. It is the one thing that brings everyone together. Regardless of where you may come from, or where you’re headed. From humble choral beginnings, BO’s not only cut his teeth working with some of the biggest names in the broader business, he’s committed life, body and soul into realizing his musical dreams. “As Africans we often forget just how wonderful our country, and our people, is,” he reflects. “Every time I travel and perform abroad, people come up to me and want to talk about our incredible spirit of Ubuntu. I love that! Hopefully fans will hear and feel that in the music I’ve made here, and which I will continue to make should the good Lord allow.”
BO has performed at high profile events such as FIFA Beach Soccer Finals Festival in Rio, to the FIBA 3X3 Basketball World Championships in Miami Florida, right through to Dubai and Italy. He also travels throughout Africa for performances the likes of the CAF African Footballer Awards in Ghana, alongside P-Square and Ishmael Lo.
BO has done a fair bit of acting in his time too. Whether it’s working alongside the likes of Leon Schuster on the set of There’s A Zulu On My Stoep, or on local sitcoms, “I’ve acted, written and directed,” BO points out. “I always knew I wanted to be a part of the entertainment economy. Having worked in many facets of the Industry, being on stage performing my music is where I love to spend all the time I can. BO’s also collaborated with the likes of Johnny Clegg and Grammy Award Winning Soweto Gospel Choir. “Going out alone means I get to explore outside my Denim identity,” he continues. “I remain as committed, and a part of the group, with everyone’s blessing. When we do suit up to perform together I hope ‘BO solo’ will help us shine even brighter as a group,” “I am excited about my journey,” he concludes. “Having come so far, yet looking forward to the mapped out path that’s intended to make a positive and enriching contribution way beyond where I’ve come from, and most importantly where I’m headed.”
